Finance

So you want to know how to cope financially during your study. Follow these three steps.

Step One

Make an assessment of your expected income. There are lots of different sources of income for students and assessments are made on an individual basis. Please view the dvds below.

In addition The Department for Innovation, Universities and Skills (DIUS) has launched a campaign highlighting the new and improved student finance package available to students going into higher education from September 2008. Part of this campaign is an interactive DVD featuring cameos from Miquita Oliver (T4), Mark Heap (Green Wing) and comedian Ed Byrne (Mock the Week). The DVD is available to view online at http://www.direct.gov.uk/unimoney and copies can be ordered free of charge by calling 0800 587 8500.

Step Two

Make an assessment of your expenditure. We recommend dividing the costs up into groups such as fixed costs; rent, food, travel, household bills, course fees.

personal allowance; entertainment, drinking and of course books.

Step Three

Determine your monthly budget by subtracting your anticipated anual expenditure from your annual income and divide by 12.
