Elaine Fisher

Elaine Fisher: Lifelong Learning Manager

Elaine Fisher has worked in a variety of educational settings within the UK and USA including 12 years at a further education college across a wide range of courses. This culminated in the management of initial teacher training. Her experience in the LSC included involvement with the National LSC Higher Education Strategy, Equality & Diversity, Learning & Development and progression issues. Since the beginning of June 2006 until August 2009 Elaine carried out the role of Assistant Director of the Western Vocational Lifelong Learning Network under the Directorship of Stephen Dear. During the WVLLN's Sustainability Phase from September 2009 - July 2011, Elaine has taken on the position of Manager of the WVLLN.  As an active researcher Elaine has been involved with projects through the LSDA, NRDC and NIACE as well as presenting her own research on professionalism and socio-linguistics both internationally and within the UK. Elaine is also a reviewer for the Journal of Further and Higher Education.

Elaine has a BSc Honours in Politics from Bristol University, MA in Post-16 Education and Policy from Sheffield University and a Post Graduate Certificate in Education from the University of the West of England.

Sue Lewis

Sue Lewis: Support for Learners Project Co-ordinator

Sue Lewis joined the WVLLN in September 2009 as Support for Learners Project Coordinator managing the development of the Lifepilot website that provides information, advice, tools and stories to help adults start their journey to higher level study.

Sue spent 17 years working as a teacher and manager in both Further Education and Secondary School sectors. For the last 12 years Sue has worked for Connexions West of England in the Education Business Partnership Team - initially managing the development and roll-out of the Key Skills Programme and latterly supporting the development and launch of a suite of web-based tools that support 14-19 year olds in making informed progression decisions. 

Sue has many and varied qualifications including a Post Graduate Diploma in Education from the University of Bath.

Sue is committed to supporting learners in developing key skills for life and employment and in providing learners with the information they need to make informed choices.

Alana Coyle

Alana Coyle: WVLLN Administrator

A degree in Environmental Sciences (from the University of Brighton) gained as a mature student has led Alana to work within Non-Government Organisations and academic institutions in both London and the Bath area. An interest in voluntary work has also taken Alana further afield to India, West Africa and Europe.

Having joined the WVLLN in 2008, Alana is now looking forward to playing a key administrative role within the network.
